Technical SEO Checklist for New WordPress Sites

A new WordPress site does not rank because you installed a plugin. It ranks because the basics are actually set. This is the checklist we run before every GridCraft launch.

The baseline

• Unique title and meta description on every indexable URL.
• Schema that matches the page: Organization on the home page, Article on posts, FAQ where you actually answer questions.
• XML sitemap submitted, robots.txt not blocking it.
• An LLMs.txt file so crawlers and assistants can read the site on purpose.

The three settings most new sites get wrong: pretty permalinks left on plain, a tagline stuffed into every title, and noindex left on from staging. Fix those before you touch content.
